A Baltimore couple has been charged with various offenses after the man was allegedly observed printing out fake license plates at Staples March 20, according to the West Windsor Police Department.
Police were sent to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked in a handicap parking space without license plates. A police officer spoke to a woman who was sitting in the car. The woman allegedly gave a false name and date of birth.
The woman said her husband was inside Staples buying screws to put license plates on the car, police said. When a police officer went into the store to investigate, a customer told him that a man was printing out license plates.
The police officer approached the man, who was allegedly in the process of laminating the printed license plates. It was determined that the vehicle had been sold privately in January, but was never registered to the new owner, police said.
The man was charged with forgery and was also found to have outstanding warrants from South Brunswick Township and Carteret. The woman was charged with hindering apprehension and was also found to be a wanted person from Maryland.
They were processed and released.
