TINTON FALLS – Members of the Tinton Falls Borough Council have taken action to prohibit parking on a street that intersects with Hope Road.
During a meeting on Sept. 6, council members adopted an ordinance that amends the borough code and designates Centre Plaza as a no parking street. Both sides and the entire length of Centre Plaza will be added to the “parking prohibited at all times” section of the borough code.
According to the ordinance, Department of Public Works employees will install “No Parking” signs on Centre Plaza.
Centre Plaza is to the west of Hope Road and Hope Road provides the only access to Centre Plaza; no other roads are connected. Two hotels are on Centre Plaza – Quality Suites and the Red Roof Inn.
In other business, council members passed a resolution certifying a review of the 2021 municipal audit to the Local Finance Board, a division of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
Under state law, the governing body of every municipality must conduct an annual audit of its books, accounts and financial transactions.
Through the resolution, the Borough Council certified that all of the members of the governing body have reviewed, as a minimum, the section of the annual audit entitled “Comments and Recommendations.”
No recommendations were identified in the audit, which means municipal officials were not required to prepare a corrective action plan.
And, council members authorized a contract for professional engineering services with T&M Associates, the borough’s engineering firm, in connection with an upgrade to the controls of the Hovnanian pump station, Jumping Brook Road. The contract with the firm is in an amount not to exceed $13,950.
According to a letter from Borough Engineer Thomas Neff, of T&M Associates, to Borough Administrator Charles Terefenko, the improvements will consist of replacing the existing pump control panel; replacing the wet well wire trough; installing new pump level control transducer, stilling well and floats; and installing new site lighting in the vicinity of the wet well and valve chamber.
Neff said T&M Associates will assist with the design phase, bidding phase and construction phase of the improvements to the controls of the Hovnanian pump station.
Finally, the council members awarded a contract in an amount not to exceed $17,500 to BRB Valuation and Consulting Services, LLC, Eastampton Township, for professional appraisal services.
