Students in grades 1-12 at Newgrange School and Laurel School of Princeton performed acts of kindness on Nov. 10 and 12. There was a donation ceremony of 1,000 pairs of socks to HomeFront, and games and activities dedicated to acts of kindness, as part of World Kindness Day on Nov. 13 at Laurel Education Group, 800 North Road, Pennington.
Employees and families at both schools, which are two-thirds of the Laurel Education Group, began the SOCKtober craze in October in tandem with International Dyslexia Month.
“We wanted to do something during Dyslexia Awareness Month because our students are mindful that they learn differently from other people, so these activities and awareness campaigns resonate with them,” Sharon Anderson, Lower School teacher and coordinator of Curriculum and Standards for Laurel School Princeton, said in a prepared statement. “Every year, we build activities, such as community service projects and book drives that help the students take an active role in their communities and at our schools.”
