Jennifer Amponin, a registered nurse, was the last nurse standing at Hillsborough High School last year, in an office normally staffed by three nurses.
She handled all calls and concerns from students, parents and staff facing infection or exposure to COVID-19, and was the point person for contract tracing.
This is in addition to counseling teens on healthy relationships and dating violence, initiating new wellness programs and activities, and creating a comfortable private lactation area for staff returning from maternity leave.
Thus, she was recognized by the Hillsborough Township Committee on Aug. 10 for being named the high school’s Governor’s Educational Professional of the Year.
