After being closed to the public due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Gourgaud Gallery has reopened.
The Cranbury gallery is currently hosting an exhibit entitled “Color Wheel” by Tatiana L. Sougakova which has been extended through Sept. 27.
This show has been running since Aug. 2. The series can be viewed at Town Hall on North Main Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the week.
“Color Wheel” is a collection of large abstract wall scrolls on sewn canvas each depicting a nature force or a theme and is an ongoing series that started in 2014. According to Sougakova’s website, the series explores bright primary colors through smaller areas of related colors, connecting small elements into a larger story.
Sougakova, a Plainsboro resident since 2000, is a classically trained experimental artist who has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally for more than 10 years.
In addition to showing her work in traditional gallery settings, she has shown her outdoor art installations in New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York City as a part of the Figment Art Festival on Roosevelt Island (2018) and Governor’s Island (2019), according to a release.
Sougakova has supported local arts in many ways. For the past 10 years she has created a different art event, demonstration or art installation for the Plainsboro Arts Festival.
The “Color Wheel” exhibit has works that have never been shown before and were created to celebrate the reopening of Gourgaud Gallery in neighboring Cranbury which was closed due to the COVID pandemic.
As part of a nonprofit Cranbury Arts Council, The Gourgaud Gallery donates 20% of art aales to the Cranbury Arts Council and it’s programs that support the arts in the community.
