Election update: Hillsborough committee, school board races still close

There were elections for seats on the municipal governing body and Board of Education in Hillsborough on Nov. 3.

The results listed here reflect what has been posted online by the Somerset County Clerk’s Office as of 5:12 p.m. Nov. 6. Mail-in ballots can be received through Nov. 10, and provisional ballots will be tabulated post-Nov. 11. Certification is expected as of Nov. 23.

The results are not final and it is not known when the results will be final.

The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.

Hillsborough Township Committee, two seats available:

Incumbent Republican Doug Tomson, currently serving as mayor, received 11,944 votes.

Republican Janine Ericsson received 11,112 votes.

Democrat Donnetta Johnson received 10,190 votes.

Democrat David Brook received 10,042 votes.

There were 7 write-in votes cast.

Hillsborough Township Board of Education, three seats available:

Cynthia DeCavalcante “Cindy” Nurse received 12,011 votes.

Paul Marini received 9,628 votes.

Benjamin Wilson Kidd received 6,938 votes.

Ann Harris received 6,474 votes.

Judith C. Haas received 5,952 votes.

Lorraine A. Soisson received 4,554 votes.

There were 66 write-in votes.
