The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office recently announced charges against a Hillsborough man for the alleged attempt of possession of child pornography.
Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Bridgewater Township Chief of Police Al Nicaretta announced the charges against the Hillsborough man, age 46 of Deana Drive.
Robertson said that on Sept. 13, 2018, the man was reported to have brought his HP Envy Notebook to an electronics store in Bridgewater to be repaired. Officials said that the technical support team allegedly observed sexually-explicit images of children and contacted law enforcement.
Officials said that a search warrant was then subsequently obtained for computer, and the New Jersey Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory (RCFL) conducted a forensic examination of of the man’s computer and located internet browsing artifacts indicative of attempts to search for child pornography.
Robertson said that at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit and officers from the Bridgewater Township Police Department located the man at his Deana Drive home and placed him under arrest for the attempted possession of child pornography.
The county prosecutor said that the man was charged with one count of third degree endangering the welfare of a child for the attempted possession of child pornography. After being processed at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, the man was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing, according to officials.
