Princeton University officials announced on Nov. 28 that they had placed on administrative leave an employee who was arrested earlier in the month during what law enforcement authorities called a child pornography sweep.
Gregory Cantrell, 61, of Freehold, who is the university’s associate director for workplace safety, was charged with third degree endangering the welfare of a child, possession of child pornography, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Cantrell, who was arrested on Nov. 5, allegedly “uploaded child pornography to Bing Image,” the prosecutor’s office said in a news release. Authorities said they investigated based on “a Cybertip forwarded by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.”
Cantrell was among 14 people arrested in the operation, the prosecutor’s office said. All of the individuals who were arrested were males, including one juvenile.
Princeton University spokesman Ben Chang said Cantrell was placed on administrative leave, adding, “We are aware of the charge and are cooperating with authorities.”
