HOPEWELL BOROUGH: Hopewell Borough Council reorganizes for the new year

Two veteran Hopewell Borough Council members and a newcomer were sworn into office at the Hopewell Borough Council’s reorganization meeting last week.

Veteran Borough Council members C. Schuyler Morehouse and Shelby Tewell were sworn into office – Morehouse for a three-year term, Tewell for an unexpired term that ends this year. Newcomer Ryan P. Kennedy was sworn into office for a three-year term.

Morehouse was chosen to be the Borough Council President.

In his remarks, Mayor Paul Anzano expressed gratitude to the Hopewell Borough residents who stepped forward to volunteer their time on the town’s advisory boards and committees.

Then, it was down to the routine reorganization matters that keep the town running.

Reed Gusciora was appointed to serve as the Hopewell Borough Municipal Court prosecutor, and John Holliday was appointed to serve as the Hopewell Borough Municipal Court public defender. The alternate public defender is Lee Engleman.

Volunteers were also named to the advisory boards and committees.

William Baumbach was named to a five-year term on the Hopewell Borough Library Board of Trustees.

Robert Donaldson was appointed to fill an unexpired term on the Planning Board that expires in 2021, and Louis Young was appointed to the alternate no. 2 position for a two-year term.

At the Historic Preservation Commission, Eric Hendrickson was named to a four-year term and Barbara Reeder was named to a two-year term.

Mary Galioto was appointed to a three-year term on the Board of Health.

Ray Disch and Christopher Makilschmitt were appointed to three-year terms on the Economic Development Committee.
