Volunteers needed to shop, cook for the elderly

The Islamic Society of Central Jersey will hold the Feed the Needy/Homeless/Elderly event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 24 at the society, 4145 Route 1 south at Promenade Boulevard, Monmouth Junction.

Muslims and non-Muslims will work together to make packages of food that can be put easily in a pot and cook quickly for the elderly, which will be delivered by the Hunger Van.

Volunteers are asked to bring Goya Lentils-Masoor Dal (10lbs), Spice Lab Himalayan Pink Salt (5lbs), Andean Gold Quinoa or Kirkland Organic Quinoa (15 lbs), Chef’s Quality Whole Cumin and/or Ziploc Double Zipper Storage Quart Bags. Items are available at Sam’s Club and/or Costco. No substitutes will be accepted.
